The new structure, direction and mission define the future benefits in the life of a child with unique learning needs through our schools and churches.

New Structure

MEO is now structured as a funding agency to enable Evansville Catholic Diocesan Schools to provide professional development experiences for their teachers and to provide additional special education programming for all their students with unique learning needs.
More students can stay in their own home parish school.

New Direction

MEO strives to provide on-site funding to all of the 28 Evansville Catholic Diocesan Schools for special education initiatives to better serve an increasing diverse population of students.
More students can attend school Mass in their home parish church.

New Mission

Marian Educational Outreach is a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Evansville committed to providing opportunities for students with unique learning needs to reach their highest potential while remaining in the Catholic school system.

A Message from the Director

2008 was a great year for Marian Educational Outreach!!

Hopefully you have checked out the pictures from our beautiful 50th Anniversary Celebration on September 26, 2008. The evening was simply beautiful in every way. Among the 140 guests were Benedictine Sisters, Mary Mark Graf and Beata Mehling, founders of Marian Day School, and Beth and Dan Vaughn, major donors who drove to Evansville from Hollister, MO for this special occasion. Mike Blake provided a perfectly professional delivery as the evening’s MC, and the Michael O’Leary Trio set the beautiful tone for the evening. The Marian Day School/Marian Educational Outreach story was told by Cherie Burgdorf, President, Board of Directors, Beverly Williamson, Development Director, and Margaret Boarman, General Chair of the Celebration.

Our 2008 Annual Giving Campaign exceeded the Committee’s goal! With Welborn Baptist Foundation matching funds, (for Project Outreach) $130,000 was raised by the Campaign. Please check the report on the website for more details. Tricia Henning is to be commended for a job well done.

Project Outreach is gaining national attention. In September 2008, the project was selected for presentation at the 2009 National Catholic Education Association conference. Marty Craig, Marianne Webster and I will be presenting our very successful project results to conference attendees during the week of April 13, 2009 in Anaheim, California. And in November 2008, Welborn Baptist Foundation awarded MEO with the funding to implement Phase III during the 2009-2010 school year!

Thanks to all of the volunteers, donors and supporters who have made all of this progress and success possible. With your help, MEO can continue to fulfill our mission to better serve all students with unique learning needs in the Diocesan schools!
