Mater Dei & Memorial Resource Programs

In 1999 Marian Day School submitted a grant application to Welborn Baptist Foundation to initiate a new pilot program in Mater Dei and Memorial High Schools to serve students who were academically at-risk, who were mildly disabled and who were not passing ISTEP testing.

With partial funding from Welborn, Marian Day School provided $17,000 for three consecutive years to develop the Resource Program at the two Evansville Catholic High Schools. During the years 2000/01 through 2002/03 one special education teacher served both schools.

In 2005 Marian Educational Outreach submitted another grant to Welborn Baptist Foundation to hire the second special education teacher for the two high schools so that both schools would have one full-time resource teacher. Again with financial assistance from Welborn, Marian Educational Outreach is contributing $18,000 for three consecutive years (2006/07-2008/09) to supplement the cost of hiring another special education teacher.

Currently the Resource Programs at Mater Dei and Memorial are serving over 100 students with special needs.
