Who are we?
| Marian Day School, d.b.a. Marian Educational Outreach, has been in existence for almost 50 years as the only self contained Special Education program in the Evansville Catholic Diocese. In 2006 Marian Educational Outreach (MEO) was providing direct services to 43 students with special needs from throughout the Diocese at St. Theresa Catholic School. MEO employed three special education teachers, two teaching assistants, one office assistant and a Director. The enrollment was over capacity and there were students on a waiting list. A 2005 study identified over 1,000 students in the Diocesan schools who needed additional academic support. This study led to the restructuring of the program in 2006. In the fall of 2006 the Catholic students who were formally enrolled in MEO were successfully integrated into six parish schools. Today, MEO is a funding organization designed to assist the 28 schools in the Diocese to provide professional development for teachers and to develop programming to more effectively serve the ever increasing student population with diverse learning needs. |
